Before any emergency remediation work can begin, all projects must be supported by a thorough inspection conducted by a certified asbestos inspector to properly identify hazardous materials and ensure safe handling. In Massachusetts, clients are required to have filed an Asbestos Removal Notification (AQ-04) with the MassDEP at least 10 working days prior to the start of work. For projects located in New Hampshire, clients must ensure that the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) and the local health officer have been notified at least 10 working days in advance, as this requirement applies to all demolition activities without exception.
